Pile Integrity Test (PIT)
The Pile Integrity Test (PIT) is a test whose main objective is to determine the variation in the quality of the concrete along the depth of foundation piles. The most usual form of the test consists in placing a high sensitivity accelerometer on the top of the pile and applying blows with a hammer. The accelerometer is fixed using a viscous material, usually petroleum wax.
